In search of Filipino Nurses’ Stories

Collecting Filipino Nurses’ Stories

Through Ren Capucao’s scholarship, the PNAVA has won a Virginia Humanities grant for $6,500 to implement the project, “A Culture to Care: The History of Filipino Nurses in Virginia Oral History Project, Panel, and Photo Exhibit.” News about our project has spread! You can listen to Ren on RadioIQ (Virginia Man Documents the History of Filipino Nurses in America) and read about our grant on the Inquirer (Fil-Am gets grant to document stories of Filipino nurses in the U.S.). The PNAVA hopes to shed light on the unknown narratives of Filipino nurses.

In addition, Ren needs our help finding Filipino nurses in the Richmond and Northern Virginia areas for oral history collection. If you know of any Filipino nurses interested, contact him:
